LCLT Pool Fund Grows

Nov. 26, 2025  --  If a community swimming pool is an amenity that is important to you, then you'll want to see what the Lone Cone Legacy Trust is doing to assist with making it a reality.

When the Norwood Park & Recreation District was conceived in 2007, there were grand visions of a community recreation center, complete with indoor courts, weight room, locker rooms, and swimming pool. And so the dream was born. When the original Board of Directors convened and crafted the first District Master Plan, the dream was there on the distant horizon while they tackled more immediate needs.

Time passed, district revenues fell considerably with the loss of severance taxes, and priorities were reorganized to best fit the situation. Meanwhile, the idea of a community pool still hovered, out of reach but in the consensus of citizens remaining among the long range goals. In order to hold onto that dream, in 2023 Lisa Foxwell & Paul Finley started the Swimming Pool Fund within the Lone Cone Legacy Trust.

The initial seed money of $53,000 has grown to over $225,000 through donations and investments. Anyone can pitch in. For details, go to the Lone Cone Legacy Trust’s website: https://loneconelegacy.org/swimming-pool-fund .

Though the shape of the recreation center idea has changed and continues to evolve, the Norwood Park & Recreation District remains committed to providing year-round recreational opportunities through the creation and maintenance of high quality parks, trails, facilities, and programs. One day, we will have that pool, and a seniors synchronized swimming team will be just one of the many fun outcomes from this community effort.
